Taj Mahal

Built by Emperor Shah Jahan, whose wife lay dying after giving birth to his fourteenth child had requested he build a beautiful mausoleum in her honour. 22 years in the construction, employing a 20,000 strong work force, the Taj Mahal was completed in 1653 – a stunning tribute honouring the wishes of a dying wife.
